About Us
We are alumni and friends of St. Mary School of Sagada, Inc. (SMSSI) residing in the United States of America and Canada. Had it not been for the quality education we received from our high school alma mater, we would not be what or where we are now. It behooves us to try and help extend the existence of SMSSI for those coming after us. SMSSI’s operational budget depended mainly on tuition fees and financial assistance from it’s mother institution - the Episcopal Church of the United States of America (ECUSA).
On account of the proliferation of “free-tuition-fee” public schools in the Philippines; and the gaining of autonomy by the Philippine Episcopal Church (PEC) from the Episcopal Church of the United States of America (ECUSA) on May 1, 1990, the fund sources of SMSSI were drastically reduced and the school nearly closed it’s operation in 2005. It was mainly through the initiatives of alumni and friends that the school was able to continue functioning.
